My name is Debbie, and I’ve spent my life caring for others—both in my career and within my family. I’m semi-retired now, having left full-time work to care for my mother until her passing, and I currently work part-time to help with my own finances. Today, I’m reaching out for help on behalf of my brother, Dale.

Dale has been blind since birth, enduring nine eye surgeries as a child in hopes of restoring his sight, but none were successful. For years, he received Social Security Disability benefits due to his blindness. Unfortunately, in April of this year, his benefits were denied after he missed a required eye appointment with a provider 70 miles away—a detail he was not aware of. Despite promptly submitting the necessary paperwork and later an appeal, Dale’s benefits have not been reinstated, and he has been left without an income for his monthly expenses.

Dale lives independently and manages his daily needs, but without his benefits, he is struggling to cover essential bills like electric, water, sewer, transportation, and personal hygiene. My other brother and I have been helping as much as we can, but it’s becoming a hardship for us as well. We are asking for help to support Dale during this difficult time.
