Hello everyone, my name is Daisy Ramirez and I am a first-generation daughter of loving and hardworking immigrants. In January, my father was diagnosed with colon cancer. It has been extraordinarily difficult to cope with and a true test of faith. My father needs help.

For the past 6 months, my dad has received health care from a local non-profit, volunteer led clinic and a partnering charity organization that provides services to uninsured and undocumented patients. Both organizations have worked together to fully cover medical expenses associated with my dad’s laboratory work, exams, and procedures -all of which have led to my dad’s diagnosis. We are eternally grateful for the care and financial support they have provided.

But that is where their help stops.

My dad now needs surgery and additional treatments, like chemotherapy, to remove the cancerous tumor that was found. Unfortunately, these additional medical services far exceed the scope and financial capacity of the two organizations. My dad urgently needs surgery but does not have the funds necessary to meet the immensely high medical bills that he will need to pay out of pocket for. The hospital estimates that the surgery alone will cost upwards of $200,000 (details not yet known), this is our ultimate goal.

I humbly ask for your help as we raise funds for my dad’s colectomy surgery. Any donation or even sharing our story will help us get my dad the urgent surgery he desperately needs. All raised funds will go directly towards my dad’s medical bills and expenses, to pay for the surgery.

It is extremely heartbreaking to know that these very real limiting factors negatively impact my dad being able to live a healthy and long life. My dad’s sacrifices have provided me with a better quality of life. It is thanks to his constant hard work and dedication, that I am the first in my family to graduate from a 4 year university with a degree in engineering and have a successful professional career.
