On February 21, 2025, our community lost a great man - Deone Gates, age 41. Deone was husband, partner and best friend to Daisha for over 20 years, amazing father, friend, cousin, son, brother, chef and always quick with the warmest smile and kindest words. His presence was big and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him for many years to come.

Deone truly fought with all his strength and then some against the cancer that ultimately took his body. As Daisha says, Deone fought until his body could no longer keep up with his mindset. And he did it all while showering Daisha with love, partnership, laughs and good food, and being the best mentor, cheerleader, supporter and guide for his kids.

Taking care of his family when he was alive and ensuring they were taken care of beyond his death was the most important thing to Deone. (If you knew him on social media, you heard him preach the importance of life insurance!) He made sure to practice what he preached...and that said, we know unexpected and ongoing expenses will still accumulate for Daisha. As her coworkers and friends, we've started this GoFundMe to support Daisha as she grieves the loss of and and celebrates the life of Deone.
