On January 30th, our lives changed in an instant when my father suffered a serious brain stem stroke. He was rushed to the hospital and spent critical time in the ICU under close monitoring as doctors worked to stabilize him. Because of the location of the stroke, treatment options were limited and surgery was not possible due to the risks involved. Over the days that followed, he slowly began responding more consistently, pushing through weakness, slurred speech, and the overwhelming fatigue that comes with a stroke of this severity. After time in the ICU and continued care in the hospital, we finally received the news we had been hoping for: he was stable enough to continue his recovery at home.
While we are incredibly thankful he is home, we know this is only the beginning of a long road ahead. A brain stem stroke affects balance, strength, coordination, and speech, and recovery requires ongoing physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Progress will take time and patience. As he begins this next chapter, there will be continued medical appointments, therapy sessions, equipment needs, and possible home adjustments to help him regain independence safely. Insurance does not cover everything, and the financial strain adds up quickly. Our family is also adjusting work and daily routines to ensure he has the care and encouragement he needs each step of the way.
We truly believe there are more milestones ahead — more strength to gain, more progress to celebrate, and more memories to make. Every donation, share, and prayer means more than we can express. Your support reminds us that we are not walking this journey alone. Thank you for standing with our family and cheering our dad on as he takes each step forward.
