We are reaching out to our community in a time of need. In December 2025, my dad suffered a severe stroke, and despite medical intervention, including an attempted thrombectomy, he is now living with hemiplegia on the left side of his body and required a feeding tube, total care full time. Thankfully, he is showing signs of progress, and we hope to have the feeding tube removed soon. After four months in the hospital, we made the decision to bring him home so he could be surrounded by loved ones. This transition has been challenging—my mom left her job to care for him full-time, and I temporarily stepped away from my nursing career to help as well. My dad requires total care and always needs two people with him. My brother and I take turns looking after our father. This has been challenging, our father is not a burden to us. We are honored and grateful to be able to have him home making progress. My dad has been making more progress since bringing him home versus in patient acute care rehab for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech. Our dad is still getting continued care for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy that he may need for the rest of his life. We have hesitated to ask for help, hoping we could manage on our own, but the financial and emotional strain is overwhelming.
