My dad recently faced an unexpected medical emergency that required surgery and has left him unable to work. After more than 17 years of service with the county, in 2024 he was laid off. As a result, he qualified for a limited amount of disability benefits which have now been exhausted. His insurance is ending soon, and he is still not healed enough to return to work.
