Support for Dad's Liver Transplant Recovery

Back in 2022, we had a health scare with my dad and almost lost him three times. We were all blindsided by my dad's immediate decline in health. The doctors diagnosed my dad with cirrhosis of the liver, and then eventually, he was diagnosed with liver cancer. My siblings and I took my dad to appointment after appointment in Abilene and DFW in hopes that he would remain stable.

As years passed, my dad's condition worsened, and it was recommended by his doctors to place him on a liver transplant list in hopes that the cancer wouldn't spread. My dad was added to the liver transplant list in January 2025. After three failed attempts, we got a call on March 22nd for a possible donor. We took my dad to the hospital, and the donor's liver was viable, and the doctors prepped my dad for the OR. The surgery was a success, and after six days in the hospital, my dad was discharged.

These next few weeks are critical for his health and to ensure that his body does not reject his liver. My siblings and I will be taking my dad to labs and doctor appointments for the next several weeks. The expenses have been adding up quickly with travel, hotel, food, medications, and other medical expenses. Your donation would go directly to my parents to assist with the various expenses.
