Cydney and her baby Lydia are facing a challenging journey after Lydia was diagnosed with right-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), a rare condition. Lydia has 62% lung volume, which is considered mild to moderate, but the rarity of her condition means there are still many uncertainties. The doctors have been very positive, giving Lydia an 85-90% chance of survival and estimating that she will only need to stay in the hospital for about three months. There is a 20% chance she may require ECMO, a lung bypass treatment, but overall, the outlook is much better than initially feared.
Cydney will be able to stay by Lydia’s side in the NICU, providing her with breast milk and comfort during this critical time. However, since they live in Louisiana and Lydia’s care is in Houston, Cydney needs to relocate temporarily to be within 20 minutes of the hospital. This means finding housing, covering travel costs, and managing daily expenses for several months, all while focusing on Lydia’s recovery.
We are reaching out for support to help Cydney and Lydia through this difficult period. Your donations will go directly toward housing, travel, and food expenses, allowing Cydney to remain close to Lydia and give her the best possible care. Thank you all so much for the love and support you’ve shown Cydney and baby Lydia. Whether you donated, shared the fundraiser, or simply kept them in your thoughts, we are truly grateful. Your kindness has meant the world to our family.
