Craig (Paco) Ely passed away unexpectedly due to a medical condition on December 29 at age 53. Craig leaves behind his wife Dana and their two children Sophia (16) and Benicio (13). His passing has left our family stunned and devastated. These feelings of loss and heartbreak will remain with everyone who knew and loved Craig.
He was a source of many laughs, from his own hilarious stories and recountings, to his friendly (and accurate) roasting of loved ones, and his cynical reactions to the drawn-out stories of others. Though he loved playing curmudgeon, he was also the tender, thoughtful and strong person that his family and friends depended on in good and bad times. He loved Dana and the kids dearly, working hard to provide for them and the dreams they were working towards. His love and pride for Sophia and Benicio was immeasurable, and so apparent in the way that he parented. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
As the news of Craig's passing has reached his friends and friends of his family, many people have asked what they can do to help. Craig was the primary breadwinner in their family, and suffering the loss of a husband and father is difficult enough without also having to worry about finances. We have set up this fund to alleviate some of those worries, and help Dana and the kids navigate this "new normal" without Craig.
