Support for Corey Wallis

Dear Bowen friends,

I am helping Nancy Lee seek financial support for Corey Wallis while he is off work for medical reasons.

You all know Corey. He has been working at the Snug Cove General Store since 2011. He is the guy with a big smile for everyone who enters the store (unless you park in the cross hatch) and he enjoys making us laugh while ringing up our purchases. In his own words he told me recently ~ “I get more out of others enjoyment than anything”

The reason Corey moved to Bowen Island was for health reasons. He needed to slow down his life and rebuild is health. He was diagnosed with a hormone disorder several years ago that affects his daily life, but it is now manageable and it is being treated successfully. He chose Bowen because he “loved the small town vibe and

peacefulness, and the people here have made that the real win to be honest. Folks I understand and appreciate.” ~ in Coreys’ words.

At the beginning of this year Corey started experiencing a number of medical issues which required lengthy stays at the hospital. He has been in and out of the hospital for months with recurring infections, which also triggered appendicitis. All this time he has been waiting for surgery. Just recently he had to return to the hospital with more complications. He now has a date set for surgery, hopefully in 4 weeks time. After the surgery Corey will have to take time off from the store to recover, possibly 4 to 6 weeks.

Corey is a very private fellow but he has told Nancy Lee, his co-worker, that he is in need of some financial help. He has depleted his savings and has used all his holiday pay and is unable to work right now. Nancy is reaching out to the community of Bowen Island for financial help for Corey.

Corey needs our support to get through the challenging months ahead. We need financial help to cover his expenses during the recovery period while his income will be non-existent. Any amount helps, and even sharing this page can make a difference.

For those who prefer a more personal touch, Nancy expressed that “get well messages will also help his soul and I am sure some kids art work would also be so appreciated. If you would like to drop off a get well cards to the General store I will make sure he will receive them.”
