My brother Corbin was admitted to the ICU with pneumonia, and what started as a serious illness quickly became a life-threatening crisis. He was put on a ventilator and soon after, he went into septic shock, which caused his organs to begin shutting down. Corbin suffered liver failure, kidney failure, heart failure, and even a stroke. The doctors used powerful medications to keep him alive as his blood pressure dropped dangerously low. He was in a coma for 13 days, and after 16 days, he was finally able to come off the ventilator. Unfortunately, the ventilator caused damage to his throat, leading to secretions of mucus and blood that filled his lungs. After just three days off the ventilator, Corbin had to be put back on it last night, and now faces the possibility of a partial foot or toe amputation. There is no clear end in sight for his recovery, and every day brings new challenges. My father and I have been by Corbin’s side at the GreenBay Aurora BayCare Medical Center ICU for 21 days, making medical decisions and providing support. This has taken a huge financial toll on us. My father has lost all his summer income to stay with Corbin, and I am unable to return to work, losing wages while being 1,450 miles from home. The funds we raise will help cover food, lodging, lost wages, and other expenses so we can continue to support Corbin through this long and uncertain journey. We are asking for any support you can give to help us stay with Corbin and make the best decisions for his care. Your generosity will allow us to focus on his recovery and provide the love and support he needs to fight through this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for considering helping our family.
