Our sweet nephew, Connor J. Gerritsen, tragically, unexpectedly, and inexplicably passed away in his sleep in the early morning of August 2. Connor proudly graduated from West Jordan High this year, an accomplishment his neurodivergence made challenging. He was nervous about adulthood, but he was striving to enter that new chapter with energy and optimism as he looked towards his future. His family is proud of who he was and what he would have become.
At a recent family reunion in Logan, Utah, Connor enjoyed spending time with his large extended family. He took the opportunity to deepen and strengthen connections with everyone there, a personal goal he had set for himself. His last summer was spent preparing for post-high school life through a program offered by the Utah Independent Living Center, spending time with his family — and, of course, his phone. He loved to engage with life and discover it through his PC, phone, and firsthand.
As his parents and siblings grieve this loss, we wanted to share a GoFundMe as an option for anyone who desires to assist in funerary expenses. If you knew Connor, please share a moment or memory you had with him — they will be precious remembrances for his family. We will collect and compile them as a source of comfort while they grieve Connor’s absence for the rest of their lives.
We all love you, Connor!
P.s. if you’d feel more comfortable donating directly instead of through GoFundMe, you’re welcome to Venmo Gina my wife, Brie’s sister, and Connor’s aunt, at @GGoddard6.
