As many of you know, we live in a home that’s a stacked duplex type arrangement, and we somewhat recently moved from the downstairs unit to the upstairs unit. Within the last month, a couple that is a little younger than us moved into the basement unit with the young woman’s father. They quit their jobs in Durango and moved away (from where they were born and raised in Durango) to Denver with her father so that they could be closer to the hospital (CU Anschutz) for him because he was #1 on the liver transplant list. However, within 4 days of starting to move in, her father ended up in the hospital with related medical issues, and though things have been variable, he hasn’t fully recovered since. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse, and yesterday he was pulled completely off the transplant list. They are now working on trying to get him stable enough to transport him back to Durango so that he can pass away at home, which they expect will happen shortly after he is taken out of the hospital.

Though we just met these people, they are so nice and we feel so horribly for what they are going through.

A little about them from what we know so far:
- They are animal lovers with a rescued dog and cat (& the young woman worked as a vet tech before their move)
- She went to college in Montana
- The young man is an avid Minnesota Timberwolves fan.
I am starting this gofundme in hopes we can raise at least a little money for them as they deal with medical expenses, are still navigating moving costs, recently quit their jobs for the move, and are now preparing for an imminent memorial for her father as well. Any little bit helps, and if you aren’t able to donate $, I’m sure they would appreciate any other support as well (such as meals, gift cards, or even just keeping them in your thoughts/prayers or sharing their story/gofundme). Donations can alternatively be sent to me any way and I will make sure it all goes directly and immediately to this couple. I’m hoping the Denver community (and beyond) can show love and support for this couple/family navigating such hardship while alone in a new place. I wish we had more money and resources to help them more ourselves, but there’s strength in numbers so I figured it’s worth a shot to put their story out there and hopefully garner (even just a little more) support and kindness from strangers if possible. Thanks in advance!
*Keeping their identities private (at least for now), as they did not ask for me to make this gofundme, but I can ask them for permission to share their identities if requested for transparency or otherwise
