Help a Devoted Worker Recover from Retaliation
Donation protected
A dear friend and former colleague of mine is going through something no one should ever have to face, especially not for doing her job well. After nearly two years of loyal service as a security supervisor, she sought support from HR for unfair treatment and harassment. Instead of receiving help, she became the target of severe workplace retaliation.
When the company shifted contracts, many of their hardworking employees, who had no history of misconduct, were quietly pushed out. My friend was one of them. Despite having no disciplinary record, she was removed from the schedule but not officially terminated, making her ineligible for unemployment benefits. She’s now stuck in a cruel limbo unable to work, but also unable to move on.
While another former employee was able to access legal aid and begin taking steps to hold the company accountable, my friend has gone over two months without income. Her rent is due, her utilities are overdue, and the stress has taken a heartbreaking toll on her mental health.
I’m asking for help to raise $2,000 for August rent and $500 for food and essential bills so she can simply breathe and focus on finding a new job. She doesn’t know I’m creating this fundraiser. She’s never been one to ask for help but she deserves our support now more than ever.
She has always shown up, done her job with integrity, and treated everyone with respect. Let’s show her that when systems fail, community steps in. If you can contribute even $5, or share this with someone who might, it would mean the world.
Standing up for justice should never cost someone their livelihood. Let’s have her back today because it could be any one of us tomorrow.
