Support for Colin Merzke

Our good friends Mike and Kelly Merzke were blessed with their newborn son, Colin James Merzke, on Friday June 12 at Womack Army Medical Center. What was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of their lives quickly turned into the most frightening when Colin was born unresponsive.  Colin was flown to UNC Chapel Hill where he remains in the NICU. The doctors have determined after numerous tests that he has suffered damage to several areas of his brain due to lack of oxygen at birth. It is unclear at this time what the long term effects will be. What we do know is Colin will be at Chapel Hill for an undetermined amount of time. Mike and Kelly are staying at a nearby hotel to be close to their son.
