Cole is our first born and our only boy. We had him when we were 24 years old, and he has always been a beautiful and intelligent human being. As parents, we have watched him grow into someone truly special, and our love for him is beyond words.

About five weeks ago, Cole started feeling sick. We went to urgent care, where they found liquid in his lungs and believed he had pneumonia. He was put on antibiotics, but his condition didn’t improve. Instead, he began to experience swelling in his abdomen and lower body. After a second urgent care visit and another round of antibiotics, his symptoms persisted. On the third visit, he was referred to the ER, where we received the devastating news that Cole was in heart failure. His ejection fraction was 5% when it should be at 70% or above. With the help of the doctors and medications, it has increased to 15%. Not only was he in heart failure, but he has 2 blood clots in his heart, one in each ventricle. It has now been over two weeks since he was admitted to the hospital, most of which has been spent in ICU, and his heart has not yet recovered.

This has been an incredibly difficult and uncertain time for our family. The bills and expenses are quickly adding up, and we are doing everything we can to support Cole as he fights to recover.

We are still uncertain of what after care looks like or his capabilities of working once he makes it out of the hospital.
