Support for Cole Childress

Dear Family, Friends, and Community,

Cole Childress, the youngest son of Vista Fire Captain Cary Childress, is a vibrant and adventurous young man with a passion for cooking and a wide world ahead of him yet to be explored. After graduating high school, he pursued his love for the culinary arts and now works as a chef. When he’s not in the kitchen, he enjoys baseball, golf, riding dirt bikes, and exploring the outdoors in his Jeep. Cole hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps as a firefighter and is eager to take on the challenges of the demanding selection process.

Unfortunately, last week, Cole suffered severe second- and third-degree burns to his face and hands in a tragic accident in the desert. He is currently receiving treatment at the UCSD Burn Center, undergoing painful debridement and multiple surgeries. His road to recovery will be long and challenging.

Our fire family is rallying around the Childress Family during this difficult time, and we invite you to join us in offering support. Any contribution—whether financial assistance, words of encouragement, or simply sharing this message—will make a meaningful difference in Cole’s journey to healing.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and continued support.
