Support for Coach Pete Adams' Family in His Memory

Our family is asking for support for our father, a devoted dad, community leader, and lifelong volunteer coach, who has been facing an incredibly difficult health journey.

Coach Pete Adams has been courageously battling Multiple Myeloma Cancer while undergoing weekly dialysis. For the past six years, his life has revolved around weekly dialysis that kept him alive but had taken a tremendous toll physically, emotionally, and financially. Recently, we received heartbreaking news that his Multiple Myeloma Cancer had returned, adding another layer of uncertainty and stress to an already difficult journey.

Coach Pete was recently admitted to the hospital suffering from double pneumonia. As he was about to be discharged, his condition worsened and was admitted to the ICU critical care unit. Shortly after moving to ICU, he coded and the medical team was able to revive him. Following, he was put on a life support ventilator and heavily sedated. After performing several heart tests, the Cardiology team informed our family his heart was too weak and unable to function on its own. Coach Pete would be on the life support ventilator for the rest of his life, including ongoing dialysis treatments 24/7. After a very difficult decision, our family decided to remove him from life support. At the time of his passing, he was with his family and surrounded by love.

For 53 years, Coach Pete volunteered as a coach with JPRD, mentoring generations of kids, teaching discipline, teamwork, and kindness. Coaching wasn’t just something he did, it was who he was. Despite the physical toll of dialysis and ongoing medical treatments, he continued to give back to the community for as long as his body allowed. Recently, due to his declining health, he was heartbroken to step away from the role he loved so deeply.

For 25 years, “Mr. Pete” graced the front door of City Lights/Generations Hall/The Metropolitan Night Club on Saturday nights. He was the manager and gatekeeper of the VIP line. Everyone who knew “Mr. Pete” loved him. He was kind, caring, friendly, and always had that bright welcoming smile.

Between cancer treatments, frequent doctor’s visits, medications, weekly dialysis, and everyday living expenses, the financial burden has become overwhelming for the past 6 years. Despite everything, Coach Pete continued to fight with strength, faith, and determination to the very end but could not do this alone. If you know our father, you know he is someone who always showed up for others on and off the field. Now, we are hoping to show up for him.

Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Coach Pete with your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and compassion during this incredibly difficult time.

With gratitude,
The Adams Family
