Support for Coach Lawrence's Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Amy Slicker. I have created this to help support Coach Lawrence Wynn - a local Director of Strength and Conditioning.
On Sunday June 9th Lawrence had a bad fall while playing basketball with his son and ruptured his patellar tendon . He is completely immobilized. He will have surgery next Tuesday June 18th to repair and reconnect the tendon . Healing time will depend on how the surgery goes but will probably be around 3 months or so.
With that being said, Lawrence has a long road ahead of him- which requires time away from what he loves most- his job & his athletes. Unfortunately he does not have health insurance at this time so everything will need to be paid out of pocket, and his savings will not cover the medical expenses. Lawrence has 3 kids and a wife who rely on him for financial needs so any help would be appreciated!
Lawrence & Alicia are family to us and I want to help them out as much as possible! (I know they would do the same for me and my kids) and I personally know Lawrence has made such an impact on many people!! I want this fundraiser to help ease the financial struggles they will be enduring during his recovery process!
* ALL donations will go to help pay for medical costs & other household expenses while he is out of work .
Thank you all for your prayers & kind words during this time .
6/19 UPDATE from Alicia:
Lawrence is out of surgery & home resting ! We want to say thank you to everyone who has stepped up in our time of need . You never truly know how big your circle of people is until something like this happens . We love all of you and are so grateful for all of the prayers & words of encouragement.
7/1 Update: From Lawrence himself
(Day 12 Post Op.)
I have been getting a lot of questions about how I am doing so I thought it would be a good idea to update everyone on my progress. I had my first follow up appointment today and recovery is going well. I still have to keep my knee immobilized for at least another 5 weeks then hopefully we can start physical therapy. The knee is healing the right way and I am finally weight bearing, moving around without crutches, and can manage pain without medication.
I wouldn’t be able to deal with this alone so I am so blessed to have my wife, kids, and family all pitching in and doing an amazing job taking care of me. I just want to thank everyone for the constant support, prayers, and love sent me and my family’s way! This is a long recovery but you guys help keep my determination high. I love you all! I will be back soon!
