Our family is facing one of the most difficult times we’ve ever experienced. Recently, my son Clayton fell into our pool and nearly drowned. My daughter, who was watching him, acted quickly and pulled him out, starting CPR and helping him cough up most of the water. My other son called 911, and the paramedics arrived within minutes. The kids ran out to meet them, and the paramedics rushed Clayton into the ambulance, working to stabilize him on the way to the hospital. When we arrived at Centerpoint, the ER team was waiting for us and acted fast to get Clayton stable enough to transfer to Children’s Mercy. There, the ER and PICU teams have been incredible, working around the clock to give Clayton the best care possible. Right now, he is sedated, on a ventilator, and being closely monitored for seizures and other signs of brain trauma. We are preparing for a long hospital stay as he recovers, and we are doing everything we can to support him every step of the way. The financial strain of this emergency has been overwhelming. The funds we raise will help us cover hospital bills, the cost of being at the hospital 24/7, and time away from work. We are also facing extra expenses from being away from home for an extended period. Your support will help us focus on Clayton’s recovery without the added stress of financial worries.
