On June 11th, 2026 Clayton Moore passed away while volunteering in Ukraine, assisting on the front lines in the Ukraine/Russia war. He was a brave man, a selfless man, and a man of integrity and valor.
Clayton served in the 82nd Airborne in the United States Army, where I had the pleasure of becoming his friend. He was the best of us. He refused to cut corners and would always choose the difficult right over the easy wrong. He had an unshakable moral compass and his calling to serve others, to do what’s right, and protect people extended past his military service.
While serving in the 82nd Airborne, after a tour in Iraq, Clayton contracted a lung condition that unfortunately meant he no
longer was able to serve in the United States military. After his exodus from military service, Clayton, then decided to help others in a different capacity, as a law enforcement officer.
While servicing his local community as a law enforcement officer Clayton felt a calling to step back into a military uniform and to help others again, this time overseas in Ukraine. He volunteered and spent the last few years dedicating himself to assisting in the war with Russia. Even after sustaining injuries from a landmine hitting his vehicle, he chose to stay and return to the front lines after recovering.
Clayton Moore was an extraordinary man. His desire to selflessly serve and protect others has left an everlasting impact on the men he served with and the communities he helped. He was the best example of a soldier and a man you could ever hope to find or meet in your life.
If you could find it in your heart to share this or help, even a little, his family and his military family would be forever grateful. We are still waiting for his body to come home, so that we can finally give his body and soul the rest it truly deserves.
