Hello, beautiful souls who are receiving this message, I hope you are well, as I write to advocate on behalf of my dear friend Claire.

Claire is a kind, hard-working, and heart-centered human, who also happens to be the most dedicated and loving single mama to three children for whom she is the primary caregiver. I have known Claire closely for nearly 6 years, as a part of my children's school community, both as a parent and staff member.

As long as I've known Claire, she has suffered with autoimmune disorders (including Lupus, hypermobility, and most recently Myasthenia Gravis) which directly affect her everyday life. They can be invisible from the outside, and she carries them without fanfare; but knowing her closely, I know what a large burden she bears, from pain to weakness, to immune flares, etc. This has been her reality since childhood and has been prevalent in her family history.

While Claire has sought (and continues seeking) support from both Western Medicine and more holistic approaches, she has still yet to receive a clear diagnosis or effective treatment plan. In fact, there may be no clear or actionable treatment available for her condition, other than continued focus on supplements, nutrition, etc., and leaning on medical treatments to offer management of her symptoms. She is used to living with these invisible ailments daily; however, she will sometimes have a flare which significantly impacts her ability to care for herself or her children, let alone work. She does it anyway, and without complaint.

However, she has recently experienced what is likely the most significant flare of her life, which left her almost unable to do basic daily tasks (and has landed her in the hospital on several occasions). Our community of friends has, thankfully, stepped up to support her in transporting children when possible, taking her to medical appointments, etc. She recently started on a medication which is helping her to manage symptoms enough to handle basic tasks, like taking care of herself and her children. Even this is more of a "bandaid" and not a cure, unfortunately. However, as she is still working with and waiting on doctors to have a more precise diagnosis and treatment plan (there are certainly multiple comorbidities), she is really needing time and space to rest and recover. This is difficult because, as a single mother, at least half her monthly income is from her work as a caregiver to others. If she is unable to work, she is unable to earn.

I would like to put out my most heartfelt request to support Claire on loss of income during this time. Truly, we do not know how long it will be. She is already talking about heading back to work this week, but I know her body really needs rest. We can all imagine what a difficult position this would be; it's heartbreaking. Any small amount would be so greatly appreciated, as well as thoughts and prayers and positive energy. I trust your heart will guide you.
