Our family is reaching out during one of the hardest seasons of our lives to ask for help, prayers, and support for our mom, Cindy, who is bravely battling stage 4 lung cancer. The cancer has spread to her adrenal glands and has drastically affected her day-to-day life. She is no longer able to work, drive, or care for herself, and she is currently hospitalized due to internal bleeding while doctors await further testing and next steps. Watching someone so strong face this has been incredibly difficult for all of us. Because of her condition, our mom is unable to work, and although we have applied for emergency disability, as many know, that process takes time. In the meantime, medical bills and daily expenses continue to grow, along with the uncertainty of future treatments she may need. Her children — MaKayla, Heather, and Jared — along with our family and friends, are hoping to raise funds to help cover medical expenses, living costs, and any specialized treatments that may be required as she continues this fight. Many of you may know Cindy as the former Activities Director at Gateway Nursing, where she poured her heart into the residents and always went above and beyond to bring joy, laughter, and compassion to those in her care. She has spent her life giving to others, and now we are humbly asking the community she loves so much to help lift her up during this time. This has been an incredibly emotional and overwhelming journey for our family, but we are holding onto faith, hope, and the kindness of those around us. Update as of 2/11/2026 - Cancer has spread to her brain. Waiting for the doctor to provide further information and treatment options.

Update as of 2/13/2026 - Doctor came and talked about next steps. Mom has decided to start radiation (10 rounds) with the head piece. If mom can get better, we’re hoping for her discharged from the hospital, but she has been moved out of ICU to a regular room. She’s not strong enough for more chemo at the moment, because the chemo is what caused the anemia. If she can get to a healthier point, we can start chemo again but the best bet was the pill, but cost couple thousand per month.
