Our family is asking for urgent and powerful prayer for my aunt, Christy Davis Thomas, who is currently in critical condition and fighting for her life. In May, Christy began experiencing shortness of breath and fatigue. A CT scan showed something concerning, but she was never told what was found. Her symptoms worsened, and on June 17, another CT scan revealed a tear in her aorta, and she was told to go to the ER immediately. Once at the ER, another scan showed the situation was far more severe, and she needed emergency surgery. Christy called Madison and Paul, and while waiting for Madison to arrive, she told Paul she was terrified of needles. Paul reassured her that everything would be OK, and she bravely went into surgery.
During the operation, an aneurysm in her aorta burst, causing major damage to her aorta and the blood vessels around her heart. She was transferred to the University of Maryland Medical Center and placed on multiple forms of life support. On June 23, she underwent another extremely complicated surgery where doctors completed one bypass and re‑grafted her aorta. Her chest has remained open since June 16 due to the risk of additional emergencies. Attempts to close her chest have been delayed because her platelet levels are dangerously low.
We are raising funds to help cover Christy’s mounting medical bills and living expenses as she continues to fight for her life. Any support—whether through donations, prayers, or sharing her story—would mean the world to us. Thank you for standing with Christy and our family during this incredibly difficult time.
