In December of 2025, my wife Christa began experiencing serious neurological issues. Her doctor advised her not to drive, which immediately impacted her ability to work, since her employer does not allow work from home. We hoped her short and long term disability insurance would help us through this, but the company has made things incredibly difficult. During the short term disability phase, they fought her every step of the way, and payments were sporadic at best. Now, more than 12 weeks later, they are fighting to deny her long term disability claim altogether, even though her neurologist is advocating for her. The company claims she can work, but the real issue is her inability to drive safely.
