Support for Chris Mitchell

On Sunday, August 4, 2019, my son Chris was one of several individuals that fell victim to senseless gun violence in Douglas Park on Chicago's west side. While hanging out with friends, Chris was unexpectedly shot 8 times and rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Although his status was changed to stable, he has multiple injuries that will require rehab. In addition to this traumatic incident, Chris was placed in police custody for unlawful use of a weapon due to a gun being found in close proximity to him when he was injured. Although the weapon does not belong to Chris, he is being held under 24-hour surveillance while trying to recover from an experience that almost ended his young life. He is currently handcuffed to a hospital bed and has not been allowed to have visitors or talk on the phone. Not even his mother and younger sister are allowed to visit or talk to him. He is relying on the kindness of nurses and social workers to get through this troubling and painful situation. Chris urgently needs your financial support to cover expenses related to his medical bills, legal fees, and relocation to a safer community.
