We are heartbroken to share the passing of Christopher “Chris” Guastella. Chris dedicated his life to serving others. After serving in the United States Air Force, he spent nearly two decades in education as a teacher, coach, principal, and most recently as Superintendent of Waskom ISD. The impact he made on students, families, and communities across Texas is undeniable. He passed away unexpectedly on March 21 following a tragic accident.
Those who knew Chris know he had a rare ability to connect with people and bring out the best in them. He showed up for others, believed in them, and led by example. He challenged people to grow while supporting them every step of the way, leading with both strength and compassion. Many credit Chris for shaping their confidence, their leadership, and their lives through his mentorship and guidance. He had a way of making people feel valued, capable, and seen. Chris also impacted countless young athletes and families during his time coaching youth sports, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went. He was a loyal friend, a devoted father, and someone who took up space in people’s lives in the best possible way.
During this incredibly difficult time, our goal is to come together to support his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Rocco and Riley. If you feel led to give, any contribution will go directly to Jennifer to help with immediate needs and to provide support in the days ahead. If you’re unable to give, we simply ask that you keep Jennifer, Rocco, Riley, and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers. Chris believed in showing up for others. Now it’s our turn to show up for his family.
