My big brother, Chris, has already overcome so many obstacles in his life, leaving all who know him in awe of his strength and perseverance. Unfortunately, just before Thanksgiving, he received the difficult news that his cancer has returned. It's been about 9 years since he beat cancer the first time and we have no doubt he'll be able to do that again! Up until his recent diagnosis, he held down 2 jobs and had been working very hard to better his life. As his sister, I'm so proud of how far he's come - even during this difficult time, he's refused to ask for help. He has been in a lot of pain and under tremendous stress as he navigates the daunting FMLA/short term disability process, which means he has been without an income. His first surgery will be on December 18th and another surgery soon to follow, with possible further treatment (pending pathology). Right now his focus should be on his health and road to recovery, not on worrying about medical bills, keeping his insurance premiums paid or his living expenses. Chris would never ask for this on his own, but on behalf of his family, any contribution (be it financial or otherwise), would truly mean the world.
