Support for Chloe McCoy's Funeral and Expenses

Chloe had lived with Cyclic Neutropenia her entire life, a condition that made her immunocompromised and left her vulnerable to bacterial infections. Recently, she began experiencing severe pain in her leg, prompting her parents to take her to the ER. There, doctors discovered she had developed a flesh-eating bacterial infection (Necrotizing Fasciitis). The infection progressed rapidly, and Chloe became septic and went into septic shock.

She was rushed by ambulance to the main University Hospital campus in Cleveland for emergency surgery. By the time she arrived, part of her leg had turned black. Surgeons removed a significant portion of her muscle in an attempt to save her limb and her life. Chloe was intubated and placed on a ventilator and 24-hour dialysis. Over the course of eight days, she endured multiple surgeries, severe hemorrhaging, and ultimately the amputation of her leg in a final effort to save her.

Tragically, the infection continued to spread to her torso. On the eighth day of her battle, Chloe passed away on May 3rd, 2025, at 10:30 p.m.—just eight days before her 21st birthday.

This devastating loss has left her parents, Kristy and Gene McCoy, and their entire family in deep grief. A GoFundMe has been set up to help support them with funeral & medical expenses, time away from work during Chloe’s surgeries, and now, as they mourn the loss of their beloved daughter.

Chloe’s funeral will be held on May 12th, 2025, at New Life Church, 2250 E Western Reserve Rd, Poland, OH 44514.
