Support for child with brain tumour

Hi, My name is Maxine and I am fundraising for my beautiful little girl Macie.

This is such a hard message to write as I never thought this would happen to us, but

two weeks ago, Macie was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

She went for a routine/annual eye exam and they found some abnormalities.

In less than a week she was seen by a specialist, and after several tests/scans/MRI, they told us that she has a brain tumour.

Sadly her eyesight is deteriorating so rapidly, that she now requires in-hospital care to try to determine the best course of treatment. The location of the suspected tumour means they are unable to biopsy without causing blindness.

She has already lost her peripheral vision, a significant amount of colour vision and some central vision. The damage so far is irreparable.

I was self employed but now cannot work as I need to be available 24/7 and my husband has had to take unpaid leave indefinitely to care for our other children.

We started the page because we realised that it simply wouldn’t be practical for Macie to continue to sleep on the top bunk of a bunk bed in her sister’s bedroom, so we needed to create another bedroom, purchase furniture/new bed etc so that Macie could have her own room to rest and recover from treatment.

Her hospital is also 1 hr 30 mins drive from our home, so we were worried about transport/parking costs etc.

To be honest, it’s just so much to think about and an incredibly stressful time for our whole family unit.

We really want to be as prepared as we possibly can, for whatever Macie needs, whilst not having to worry all of the time about finances.
