Support for Cheri Thanos After Joel's Tragic Loss

Joel Thanos was a true free spirit—someone who lived on his own terms and never apologized for it. He was frugal in the best way, always saving with intention, dreaming ahead to the next project or the next journey. Art was the language of his life. He was an extraordinary artist in every form he touched, including a powerful graffiti artist, a gifted tattoo artist, and a master leather maker whose work was bold, provocative, and unmistakably his. Joel didn’t follow rules just because they existed. He was a rebel by nature, covered head to toe in tattoos that told his story long before he ever spoke. Beneath that fierce exterior was an amazing soul—thoughtful, deeply loyal, and spiritually curious. He studied Buddhism and carried its lessons with him in his own way. Above all, Joel was devoted to the people he loved. He was fiercely loyal to his friends, the kind of person you could always count on. And no one mattered more to him than his mom. He loved her deeply and kept a picture of her beside his bed, a quiet reminder of where his heart truly lived.

On January 1, 2026, Joel was tragically murdered in Los Angeles after leaving Uncle Ollie's Penthouse. He was attacked by a random person on his way to his vehicle. Joel was only 44 years old. His sudden loss has left his mother, Cheri, heartbroken and facing overwhelming expenses. Joel was her primary supporter, sending her money, and helping with repairs around her home in Georgetown, Texas when he would visit. Without him, Cheryl is struggling to manage both the emotional and financial burdens.

We are raising funds to help Cheri purchase a mausoleum space for Joel at Sparkman Hillcrest in Dallas, move his belongings from Los Angeles to Texas, and repair her home—including installing a new HVAC system, which she has been without for over three years. Your support will help Cheri honor Joel’s memory and provide her with some comfort and stability during this unimaginable time. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Any contribution will make a difference and help Cheri as she faces the loss of her beloved son.

The proceeds are going directly to Cheri.

Funeral services will be announced shortly.
