Announcing Miss Charlie Blake Horton! Born November 11th at 10:01am, Charlie made her debut a little early at 34 weeks, arriving by emergency C-section due to high risk complications for both mom and baby. She was delivered at St. David’s North Austin and transported to St. David’s Medical Center, where she is receiving amazing care in the NICU. Quickly after birth, Charlie was diagnosed with Type A Esophageal Atresia, a condition where the esophagus does not form a continuous tube to the stomach. On January 20th, Charlie reached 70 days in the NICU, having undergone her first surgery the day before. Although the procedure was successful, the findings were not what the family had hoped. The 6 cm ultra–long gap esophageal atresia may require medical care from out-of-state specialists. The medical team has shared that Charlie will need to remain in the NICU for several more months. This journey has been filled with uncertainty, but the family is deeply grateful for the incredible nurses, doctors, and staff who have been by their side every step of the way. The financial strain of extended hospital stays, medical bills, and travel between hospitals is significant. Your support will help Charlie’s family focus on caring for her and each other, rather than worrying about expenses. Please continue to pray for Charlie and her family, and consider supporting them during this difficult time. Every donation brings them closer to the day they can bring sweet Charlie Blake home.
