Hi all. I hate asking for help, but here I am. As most of you already know, I was laid off in November of 2024 after working at the DNC for 5 years. It was a shock, but what has come after has been even worse. Though I have applied for hundreds of jobs, I am still unemployed. For those who don’t know - New York State Unemployment Insurance covers only 6 months of joblessness. My 401k savings were exhausted pretty quickly, and the social safety net is sorely lacking in this state and the country overall. We need to do a lot better.

That being said, I have survived with the incredibly generous help of very close friends and neighborhood bartenders who have kept me living in an apartment with electricity, food, and more than occasionally assisted with theater plus 1s, multiple frozen margs, bar snacky snacks, and martinis. It has been 17 months of unpaid rent, barely paid bills, and lean times for Char and Ferg. (Though I absolutely would feed them before I’d feed myself if we were starving)

Now I am hoping to raise some money to pay some past due bills, buy food and litter for Charlemagne and Fergie, and have a little cushion for whatever lies ahead. I know the economy is garbage and a lot of people are struggling so anything is helpful and greatly appreciated.
