Hi everyone — I’m sharing something personal about my cat Chacha, for those who want to read or help. Please don’t feel obligated at all — even just sharing this page means a lot.
Chacha, my Bengal cat who many of you have seen on my IG stories, recently went through a very frightening medical emergency. She suddenly began vomiting blood and stopped eating completely. I rushed her to the ER, where they ran tests and sent us home with medication. At first, she seemed a little better, but then she stopped eating for almost three days. On the third day, she became extremely nauseous, droopy, and weak, so I rushed her back to the ER. More diagnostics and fluids were given, but the cause was still unclear. The vets recommended transferring her to an animal hospital for advanced care.
The next morning, I took Chacha to a specialty hospital, where she was hospitalized for two nights. A specialist found signs of a past infection and started her on antibiotics and supportive care. They believe she has an extremely sensitive GI tract and will need long-term management, a novel protein diet, and a consultation with a veterinary nutritionist. Chacha is back home now and improving, but she still has unpredictable vomiting, and it will take time (and more vet visits) to get her stabilized on a diet that works for her.
The total cost of her ER visits, diagnostics, hospitalization, and specialist care has been overwhelming. I took out a CareCredit loan to cover it, and I’m hoping to raise some funds toward that amount. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has checked in on her. There is absolutely no pressure to donate — I know times are hard for everyone. Sharing this page helps just as much. Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring about Chacha. I’ll post updates here as she continues to recover.
