On Friday, September 13, 2019, Cesar Salcedo had a head on collision with a tractor in Hyder, Arizona due to dust on the road causing zero visibility. 911 dispatched out Tacna Volunteer Fire Dept, Gila Bend Fire Dept, and Tri-Valley ambulance. First Responders were on scene within an hour and immediately dispatched LifeFlight out of Gila Bend. With the help of civilians and coworkers on the scene the Medics with Tri-Valley were able to extract Cesar from the vehicle and get him stabilized in the ambulance while waiting for the helicopter. Cesar was flown to St. Joseph's hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
Cesar's injuries were identified as 4 broken ribs, a punctured lung, a broken knee cap, 2 broken femurs, and a broken tibia. He was in a lot of pain but in good spirits. Saturday afternoon Cesar went into his first surgery to have rods put in his legs, the surgery went fine but while still under sedation after the surgery he had a seizure and his blood pressure dropped severely. The doctors were able to save him but had to put him on a respirator as he was unable to breathe on his own. He is now in critical condition.
Cesar's parents are both by his side in Phoenix. They are both taking time off of work to be there for him. Cesar also has two younger siblings that are still in school and had to stay home in Yuma. Please donate whatever you can to help this wonderful family through this tragedy and keep them in your prayers.
