Caroline Peña, lovingly known as Caro, was a vibrant 32-year-old mother of five in Del Rio, Texas. She was a twin, a cousin, and a friend to many, always greeting people with the biggest smile and hug, no matter how much time had passed. Caro was fiercely protective of her loved ones, especially her nephews and her own children, two of whom have autism. Her joy in being a mother was unmatched, and her generosity touched everyone she met—she would give her last dollar without hesitation.

On a Thursday afternoon, Caro was tragically stabbed multiple times in broad daylight. Her nephew rushed her to the hospital, and she was airlifted to San Antonio, but she did not survive. The loss has devastated her family and the entire Del Rio community, who are grieving alongside them. Three women have been charged with murder, and investigators say additional charges are possible, though a motive has not been established. Caro’s cousin Georgina reached out to share who Caro was before this tragedy, so the world would know the person they lost.
