Support for Carol Baker Grumbaugh and her family

Many of you have been following Carol Baker Grumbaugh’s journey with brain cancer. With the saddest heart I share Carol’s fight ended May 11th, 2024, surrounded by family.
In January of 2023, Carol was diagnosed with an extremely rare, aggressive, and in-operable form of brain cancer. She was ultimately given 1-2 years to live. Carol, being the fighter she is, was determined to be an anomaly, and fought with everything in her to beat her brain tumor. Carol endured 6 weeks of daily radiation, along with different forms of immunotherapy and chemotherapy. For months, the treatment seemed to be working, and they were joyed to hear Carol’s tumor remained stable in size. Carol continued to fight for her life, with being the world's best Mimi to Brody, Graham, Vivianne, and August as her motivation.
On April 1, 2024, things took a turn; Carol and her family received devastating news that the chemotherapy was no longer working. An MRI revealed many new areas of cancer in her brain, along with growth of her original tumor. Carol’s oncologist and neurologist sadly shared there are no other treatment options available to offer Carol at this time.
With the heaviest hearts, Carol and her family decided for Carol to live out the remainder of her days on hospice, as she received the loving, gentle, and attentive care that she deserved through her end stages of life.
Many of you have asked throughout this journey of ways you can help to support Carol and her family. Unfortunately, Carol’s insurance did not cover hospice fully, placing a financial strain on Carol’s family. I have started a go-fund me to help alleviate some of the financial stress they are experiencing throughout this process. Her family and children, Abbie Nichols and Regis Grumbaugh, remained by her side as she transitioned from one stage of life to the next. They are grateful beyond words can express, for any thoughts, prayers, and monetary donations anyone may be able to offer during this incredibly difficult time.
