Support for Carina's Family in Difficult Times

Donation protected
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Carina Mae Owens; a devoted wife and mother, and a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, auntie, niece, and friend. She touched so many lives as a dedicated mentor and social justice advocate who worked on behalf of youth, seniors, and veterans, and was very involved in community organizations that were dear to her heart. Carina will always be remembered for her loving and caring nature, her unwavering devotion to friends and family, her vibrant spirit, infectious humor, the way she lit up a room and lifted up those around her. Carina was fiercely independent, and at the same time gave herself completely to those she loved. She was a truly special person, and she is so deeply missed.

In Summer of 2023 at the age of 36, Carina was diagnosed with a rare and incurable form of cancer called adenoid cystic carcinoma. It was already in stage IV. She fought a hard battle undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, and fighting complications that put her in and out of the hospital over several months. In the early morning of May 31, 2024, Carina passed away peacefully at Stanford Hospital with close family by her side.

Carina is survived by her husband Michael and their 3-year old son Owen, her parents Rose and Eric Vigdor and Ceasar Orozco, and her siblings Rod and Brandon.

For those who want to help, contributions made here will help offset funeral costs and surmounting medical expenses. The funeral costs are $20k and additional contributions will go toward medical expenses and a college fund for little Owen. The medical expenses are exuberant and even with insurance are totaling over $100k.

If you are reading this, we thank you for your love and support for the Owens family during this very difficult time. Please feel free to share this GoFundMe link with anyone looking for ways to give.
