My name is Bryan Chavez and my family is asking for your help after the devastating back-to-back earthquakes that struck Venezuela.

I was born and raised in La Guaira, one of the areas that was severely impacted by the earthquakes. This isn't just a place you've seen in the news—it's my hometown, where I spent most of my life and where many of my loved ones still live. In a matter of moments, homes that families spent their entire lives building were reduced to rubble.

My aunt Yura, uncle Martin, and cousin Gabriel (photographed above) lost their entire home when it collapsed. The photos included on this page show what remains of the house they once called home. With nowhere else to go, they have moved in with my mother, who also lives in the affected area and is coping with the devastation in her own community. Many of their neighbors are facing the same heartbreaking reality, having lost their homes and belongings overnight.

My nephew, who also lives with my mother, has been spending much of each day searching for food distribution sites and trying to find ice to keep insulin cold for a family member who depends on it. These are the daily challenges families in the community are facing as they work to get through this disaster.

We are raising funds to help my aunt, uncle, cousin, my mother, my nephew, their neighbors, and other families in my hometown purchase immediate necessities such as food, clean water, clothing, temporary shelter, medications, and supplies needed to begin rebuilding their lives. Every dollar donated will go directly toward helping those affected.

We know there are many fundraisers and relief efforts for Venezuela right now, and every one of them represents people who are desperately in need. If you are able to support my hometown, my family, and the other families I know personally, no matter the amount, we would be incredibly grateful. If donating isn't possible, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean just as much.

Soy Bryan Chavez y mi familia les pide su apoyo tras los devastadores terremotos consecutivos que azotaron Venezuela.

Nací y crecí en La Guaira, una de las zonas más afectadas por los terremotos. Este no es solo un lugar que han visto en las noticias; es mi hogar, donde pasé la mayor parte de mi vida y donde todavía viven muchos de mis seres queridos. En cuestión de segundos, las casas que tantas familias construyeron con el esfuerzo de toda una vida quedaron reducidas a escombros.

Mi tía, mi tío y mi primo lo perdieron todo cuando su casa colapsó. Las fotografías que compartimos muestran lo poco que quedó de lo que alguna vez fue su hogar. Al no tener otro lugar adonde ir, ahora se están quedando en la casa de mi mamá, quien también vive en la zona afectada y está enfrentando las consecuencias de esta tragedia. Muchos de sus vecinos están viviendo la misma realidad, habiendo perdido sus hogares y la mayoría de sus pertenencias de un día para otro.

Mi sobrino, quien también vive con mi mamá, ha pasado gran parte de sus días buscando centros de distribución de alimentos y tratando de conseguir hielo para mantener refrigerada la insulina que un miembro de nuestra familia necesita. Estos son los desafíos diarios que muchas familias están enfrentando mientras intentan salir adelante.

Estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar a mi tía, mi tío, mi primo, mi mamá, mi sobrino, sus vecinos y otras familias de mi comunidad a cubrir necesidades inmediatas como alimentos, agua potable, ropa, alojamiento temporal, medicamentos y otros suministros esenciales que les permitan comenzar a reconstruir sus vidas. Cada donación se destinará directamente a apoyar a las familias afectadas.

Sabemos que actualmente existen muchas campañas de recaudación y esfuerzos de ayuda para Venezuela, y cada una representa a personas que realmente necesitan apoyo.
