On January 14th, our world changed when my fiancé, Bryan, was diagnosed with stage 3B non-small cell lung cancer. For months, Bryan struggled with breathing issues and, despite seeing a specialist, his symptoms were dismissed and he was told to give it more time. He continued working full time, pushing through the discomfort, until the day he could no longer manage. I picked him up from work and took him to the emergency room, where we received the devastating news: a 15-20 mm mass was found in his right lung. We were immediately transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis.
Since then, our lives have been in a whirlwind. His biopsy results came back January 20th and we have an idea of what the beginning of treatment will look like. Bryan will begin radiation five days a week for three weeks, followed by chemotherapy. The initial phase alone means traveling about 120 miles round trip each day, and we know there will be more trips ahead. Bryan has always been our family’s primary source of income, and his illness has left us facing not only emotional and physical challenges, but also financial ones.
We are reaching out to our community—family, friends, and compassionate strangers—for support during this incredibly difficult time. Your help will go directly toward travel expenses, medical bills, copays, and the everyday bills that keep our family going. Any support, no matter the size, will mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness. Thank you for reading our story and for standing with us as we fight this battle together.
