We are reaching out today on behalf of one of our cherished alumni (Zach Hoffman) and his incredible two-year-old son, James. Since January, James has been fighting an unimaginable battle. What began as an H. influenzae infection led to the discovery of an abscess in his left lung. Despite enduring multiple rounds of antibiotics and a chest tube placement, the nightmare was far from over.

Six weeks after his discharge, James's abscess had not only grown larger but also showed no signs of fluid, making it even more concerning. Thanks to the dedicated team at Dayton Children's, a biopsy was performed, and the devastating news was delivered: James was diagnosed with a rare lung sarcoma. His journey ahead will be tough, involving chemotherapy and another surgery over the next 36 weeks.

James is a resilient, young warrior—a true Viking. His strength and bravery inspire us all as we rally behind him and his family.

As a fraternity built on brotherhood and lifelong support, we are determined to stand by our brother and his family during this challenging time.
