At the end of July, Britni, who is a single mom with a 12 year old daughter and a school teacher, suffered a series of strokes with no warning. She's been in the hospital ever since. The strokes have caused her to suffer from Aphasia (trouble with speech and finding words) and some paralysis on her right side.
The doctors determined that she has an underlying rare vascular disease called Fibromuscular Dysplasia which led to a Dissection (tear of a blood vessel wall) in her Carotid artery in the left temple area, thus causing a blood clot to form. This led to the strokes.
The doctors at Johns Hopkins attempted remove the clot and/or put in a stent but were unable to do either because of the size and location of the clot.
Britni is currently in CCU and will remain for some time. They are trying to use meds to increase blood flow to the new brain vessels and blood thinner to reduce the clot. They're closely monitoring her.
The funds raised through this page will go to support Britni and Karlie as they deal with financial needs that will arise because of this health crisis.
Thank you for your generosity and your prayers. They are much appreciated!
