On February 6, 2025, Ian Hofmann tragically lost his life in the crash of Bering Air Flight 445 while traveling from Unalakleet to Nome, Alaska. At 3:18 p.m., the plane experienced a sudden loss of altitude and speed before disappearing from radar. For over 12 hours Ian’s family and friends waited and prayed. Tragically, the wreckage was found 34 miles southeast of Nome, and all 10 individuals on board, including Ian, were lost.

Ian was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a man known for his kindness and generosity. His light touched everyone around him, and his loss leaves a void that cannot be filled.

As the primary provider for his family, Ian’s passing has placed an immense emotional and financial burden on his wife, Brigette, and his special needs step-son, Julian. As Julian will tell you, "Ian is in heaven now," and Ian's family and friends are here trying to cope with this sudden and tragic loss. Brigette seldom thinks of herself. A hufflepuff to the core, she works for non-profits, builds costumes for theatre companies, is a round the clock caregiver for Julian, and is always the first to step in when a friend or stranger needs support. During the pandemic, Brigette made over 20,000 masks that were shipped all over the world, because she knew she needed to do something to help. Brigette is always asking "how can I help?"
