Please help support Brian Parker's Heart Transplant Journey
Donation protected
I am reaching out to you today on behalf of the Parker family who need our help. As some of you may know, Brian Parker was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy with Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) in 2016. Brian’s heart condition is not genetic, rather a virus settled in his heart and not his lungs much to his bad luck. Brian has not been doing well and has had many side effects from the medication which took a toll on his other organs. On Friday, April 5th, Brian was at home and his heart went into VT and he subsequently was shocked. The shock is to stop his heart and bring it back into rhythm. Brian spent the weekend in bed and Liz knew she needed to get him into the doctor fast. Brian was instructed to go to the ER so he could be admitted. Brian was then transferred to UCSD and admitted into the Heart Transplant program on April 11th. As of today, Brian is in ICU getting all tests completed to have his case presented to the Transplant Committee. Brian will need a heart and will remain in the hospital until he gets one.
Brian works for a small Biotech company in Carlsbad and Liz works as a business operations manager for a large satellite company. Brian and Liz have one son Connor (19) and a daughter Kenna (16), and are longtime residents of Vista. Liz is a Vista High alumni. The Parker's are active in their kids’ lives. Liz is Vice President of Girls Water Polo and on the board for the Panther Aquatics Booster Club. Kenna plays water polo for Vista High and club water polo for Seaside. Connor graduated from Vista High and is a former Vista High Water Polo player who is now attending Palomar College.
While Brian waits for a heart, he is required to be in the ICU for complete support to keep his heart pumping. During Brian’s wait for a new heart and during his recovery, Liz needs to be home to support him with all his doctors’ appointments. Liz and the kids will be driving back and forth to UCSD Hospital in La Jolla. The support from family and friends has already been incredible and The Parker family is blessed to be surrounded with so much love. Many continue to ask how they can continue to help the family. There are various caps to what insurance will pay, so this GoFundMe is to help them cover additional bills not covered by insurance. This will help the whole family focus on Brian’s journey towards his transplant without having to worry about the mounting medical bills.
Brian has been strong throughout the years dealing with this heart condition. He continues to be strong and is ready to get a new lease on life with his new heart. The wait time for a new heart is unknown. Brian will be required to be in the ICU the until his transplant happens. Gas back and forth, insurance bills, treatments, physical therapy, and constant trips to the doctor all add up. Our goal is to relieve any stress that could occur financially, so Brian and his family can solely focus on healing.
We all know how much Brian and his family are loved by so many which is why we created this page to show our continued support. As a community, friends, family, and parents, I ask that you please help them in any way you can. If you cannot donate financially please say a prayer for the family.
Please join us in helping the Parker Family.
