Help Support a Young Woman Who Saved Her Dog From Abuse
Hi everyone,
Many of you have seen the heartbreaking Ring camera footage of a dog being horrifically abused by his caretaker at The Portola apartments. That footage was captured and bravely shared by my neighbor, and what followed was a powerful show of community. A group of us—dog-loving women who couldn’t sit back and do nothing—banded together to save this innocent pup.
The abuser is now gone.
His ex-girlfriend, a 20-year-old woman who had no idea what was happening in her own home, is completely devastated. The moment she saw the truth, she kicked him out without hesitation. She hasn’t been able to bring herself to watch the full video—her heart is shattered. But what she has done speaks volumes about her courage and love for her animals.
She’s been living on her own since she was 17. She works full time and goes to school full time. She doesn’t have much of a support system—but she made the right choice instantly and without excuse.
Now, she's left to pick up the pieces alone. She’s struggling to cover rent and basic expenses, and we want to show her that she’s not alone—that there is a community behind her, proud of her bravery and heart.
If you can spare anything, even a few dollars, it would mean the world. Let’s help lift some of the burden from her shoulders so she can continue to heal and move forward with her beloved dogs in a safe, loving home.
Thank you for reading and for caring. ❤️
Post from my neighbor who released the Ring footage:
I have an update for everyone. It doesn't resolve that this shit stick only got a warning, but it's still a story that will warm your heart.
the evening, a young brave soul showed up at my door alone. I'll leave her name out of it, but she was dating and living with said shit stick. His name is Mason by the way, did not press for the last name.
She stated that she wanted to let me knowthat Mason has moved out. She does not have social media, and was unaware of the abuse, of him flipping off my cameras, until today. He moved "back to the mountains" today, as they broke up when she learned of how bad the incident was. She was grateful for the intervention.
During this time, the other women from my apartment that had banned together to rescue this dog, arrived in the hallway and we all got to talking,. This young girl is 20, and simply found herself in a not so great situation, that she successfully got out of today.
Apollo, btw, is the dogs name, is doing great. She will be keeping Apollo and she is taking him to the vet to confirm that he is in fact, ok, although no signs of injury have been seen.
I'd still like to ackowledge and remind everyone of the absolute disregard of the protect and serve aspect that Centennial Animal Control failed to do for this dogthat day, and how we should all be fighting for a more strict punishment for such abuse, even if it doesn't result in injury. Luckily this young lady stuck up for herself, and her dog Apollo, this eveing.
