First off, Brandy Trafman has given us permission to share this information.
As many of you already know, Brandy has been a kindergarten teacher at Willard for the last 8 years, building relationships that have left her beloved by so many 5 and 6 year olds and their families. In her time out of the classroom, she loves coaching gymnastics, volunteering at the children's hospital and mentoring students at Camp DIY. Her generosity and kindness have touched the lives of so many people in our community, and this effort is a small gesture to give back to one of our own in a time of need.
Just two weeks ago, Brandy needed to take a medical leave from teaching. Recently, doctors found that she has two tumors and lesions in her pelvis/abdomen area. This is a recurrence from the time of her first surgery four years ago. She will now require a second, more complicated surgery and further medical treatment.
Brandy is currently out of paid sick days, and her insurance will not cover all of her medical expenses. As a community, we would like to help support Brandy while she is recovering from surgery and starting treatment.
On behalf of Brandy, we thank you for your support during this difficult time. We all wish her a speedy recovery!
