Brandon Figueroa, my 18-year-old son, went to Rockaway Beach with his friends on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026. While enjoying the water, a big wave and a strong riptide pulled Brandon under, and despite the efforts of NYPD, FDNY, and other agencies, his body has not been found. This unimaginable tragedy has left our family heartbroken and lost for words.

Brandon was a good kid, a senior at The Urban Assembly Bronx Academy of Letters, and was about to graduate next month. He had plans to attend trade school to become an electrician, and his future was full of promise. Our family is struggling to cope with this unforeseen and devastating loss.

I am collecting funds to cover the expenses associated with the funeral and memorial services for Brandon, as this loss was entirely unforeseen. Any contribution will be sincerely appreciated and will help support our family during this heartbreaking time.
