My best friend has always been the person who shows up for others, offering kindness and support whenever it’s needed. Last month, her world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with a golf ball-sized brain tumor on her frontal lobe. For years, she experienced symptoms that were thought to be POTS, but after a frightening episode where her speech became slurred, her husband rushed her to the emergency room. In a matter of days, their lives changed forever.

She underwent brain surgery at the James Wexner Center, where doctors were able to remove about 80% of the tumor through her nose. The surgery was successful, but she now faces a long and challenging recovery, including another brain surgery in the coming months to remove the remaining tumor. She spent a week in the ICU, and her husband has had to take multiple days off work to care for her. She can’t lift anything over five pounds and has frequent appointments in Columbus, all while facing a year-long recovery.

Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket medical bills are overwhelming. The funds raised will help cover these expenses, as well as travel costs and lost income from missed work.
