After putting up a very strong fight, our papa lost his battle with cancer. His fight reflected so much of who he was — someone who never complained and took on any adversity with no doubt he would overcome it.
All he wanted was for us to follow our dreams and he supported us with so much enthusiasm. He never took a day off work so we could live a life of comfort and abundance. But he was so much more than just a provider.
He loved learning and always kept a book nearby. Because of him, books fill every corner of our home. He knew everything about everything, a walking encyclopedia. He loved amusement parks, watching movies, and never missed going to the gym. He loved and took so much pride in hearing about our academics. He was always up for a challenge — whether that be running a marathon with little to no training or memorizing long speeches for Toastmasters, an organization he adored.
He so deeply loved Assam and contributed so much to the Assamese community. He was the founder vice-president of the Friends of Assam and the Seven Sisters, served as the general secretary of the Assam Foundation of North America, and published an annual magazine to recognize the exceptional works and achievements of Assamese people around the world. We are so proud to be Assamese because of him.
Since he was our family’s sole earner, navigating the road ahead financially without him will be difficult. We’ve created a GoFundMe to help us cover funeral and medical expenses, as well as general living costs.
Any support, whether through donating or sharing this page, means so much to our family.
It will never be the same without him, but we will carry his love with us forever.
Thank you,
Anvi & Riddhi Bora
