Support for Bodhi Pike’s Medical Fight After Emergency Brain Surgery
Dear Friends & Family, we would like to bring an emergent situation to your attention and kindly ask for support:
Our beautiful, 7 month old baby nephew Bodhi Pike is looking for a miracle. He was born to parents Dylan & Erin in August of 2024 with a rare condition called Craniosynostosis, a congenital condition where the bones of the skull fuse prematurely, before the brain has finished growing. This fusion prevents the skull from expanding normally. When Bodhi turned 6 months old, he underwent cranial surgery, to reshape his head and prevent problems with brain growth. The operation went smoothly and after a short hospital stay, he was able to go home to finish recovery.
Unfortunately, 19 days post-surgery, Bodhi’s parents began to notice increased irritability, changes in the shape of his scalp and loss of motor function on the left side of his body – this led them to bring Bodhi back to the hospital and it was determined by MRI that Bodhi was suffering from a life-threatening complication: his brain had a cranial defect and brain matter had herniated through his skull. He was immediately admitted into the ICU and underwent emergency brain surgery. This particular complication is so rare that there is only one other case recorded which was back in 1980. His surgeons went to work, unsure if Bodhi could survive the procedure. Fortunately, our miracle baby nephew’s surgery was successful. Bodhi remains in the ICU currently, with a long road towards recovery. He has been suffering a series of seizures over the last week, meaning he and his loving parents can’t return home until he stabilizes. In addition, physical therapy is actively working with Baby Bodhi to help him try to regain mobility in the left side of his body. We continue to be so amazed by the strength of this sweet boy. He is a true fighter and a testament that #PikesFightItsWhatWeDo.
We are kindly asking for financial help for Bodhi’s medical expenses as well as living expenses for their family of five during this difficult time. His father, Dylan Pike, has had to take a leave of absence from work in order to care for Bodhi. Any support and well wishes for their family right now are deeply appreciated…Stay fighting Bodhi, we love you so much!
We will provide updates about Bodhi’s condition via this page. Hoping for good news that he can finally be discharged from the ICU and go home soon...<3
